Known as the “Nil de Alba Festival” the night of fire, this celebration dates back to the middle ages. Nowadays it is an amazing pyrotechnic show which lasts for around an hour, consisting of more than 2,000 kilos of gunpowder and over 70,000 rockets! The highlight of this evening is when the whole city is plundged into darkness and silence and from the top of the Bassillica the breathtaking palm of the virgin is launched, which reaches upto 300 metres and illuminates the city.
